How recipes are created on JustRecipes

How We Create Recipes

Every recipe published on JustRecipes follows a structured editorial workflow. This page explains how recipe content is prepared, validated, translated, illustrated, maintained, and improved across the platform.

Our editorial workflow

Recipes on JustRecipes are prepared in a structured format designed to make them practical and easy to follow. We standardize ingredient information, instructions, serving details, timing, recipe notes, recipe categorization, and supporting cooking guidance so recipes are presented consistently across the platform.

Before publication, recipe content passes a defined set of editorial and technical validation checks. Recipes may also be updated later when we improve our content standards, identify inconsistencies, refine translations, add better supporting information, or receive useful feedback from readers.

Structured recipes

Recipes use a consistent structure with clear ingredient lists, step-by-step instructions, timing and serving information, recipe notes, and practical cooking guidance.

Multilingual adaptation

Recipes are adapted for multiple languages using consistent terminology, localized ingredient names and measurements where appropriate, and language-specific validation.

Continuous maintenance

Recipes are not treated as finished forever. We continue to refine formatting, wording, translations, supporting information, ingredient data, and recipe functionality as the platform develops.

What “Content validated” means

When a recipe is marked as 'Content validated', it means the recipe has passed the current JustRecipes validation process for structure, completeness, ingredient and instruction consistency, formatting, recipe metadata, and language quality where applicable.

Validation combines structured editorial rules, automated and AI-assisted checks, and sample-based human editorial review. It does not mean that every individual recipe has been cooked in a JustRecipes test kitchen or personally reviewed by a chef. We use validation to identify obvious inconsistencies, missing information, formatting problems, and quality issues before content is published or updated.

If a recipe is materially changed or improved, its validation status may be updated to reflect the latest version of the content.

Recipe images and visual presentation

Recipe images are selected or created to reflect the expected style, appearance, serving method, or presentation of a dish as closely as practical.

Some images may be created with digital or AI-assisted tools, while others may come from third-party sources with attribution where applicable. Recipe images are intended as useful visual references, but they may not represent the exact appearance of a dish prepared from the recipe.

Translations and localization

JustRecipes publishes recipes in multiple languages so readers can discover and use recipes in the language that is most useful to them. English generally serves as the source version for multilingual recipe content.

Translations may use automated and AI-assisted language tools together with terminology rules, ingredient mappings, structural validation, and editorial correction where needed. Ingredient names, cooking terminology, units, and phrasing may be adapted for readability and local usage while keeping the underlying recipe consistent.

Ingredient, allergen, and nutrition information

Ingredient labels, allergen indicators, dietary tags, and nutritional information are provided for informational and convenience purposes. Where this information is available, it is derived from recipe ingredients, structured recipe data, and supporting classification rules.

Ingredient composition, preparation methods, manufacturing processes, and product formulations can vary between brands and regions. If you have an allergy, intolerance, medical dietary requirement, or other specific nutritional need, always verify product labels and ingredient suitability independently.

Recipes continue to improve

JustRecipes is continuously maintained. We regularly improve recipe formatting, ingredient data, cooking guidance, translations, images, discovery features, converters, planning tools, and other parts of the platform.

Reader feedback and recipe reviews also help us identify unclear instructions, translation issues, missing information, and opportunities to make recipes easier to use.

Found something we can improve?

If you notice an unclear instruction, translation issue, ingredient problem, or other information that could be improved, please let us know. Useful feedback helps us improve both individual recipes and the wider JustRecipes platform.
