Why this recipe works
- Ready quickly: A short oat soak and a quick blend create a satisfying breakfast in about 10 minutes.
- Thick and creamy: Greek yoghurt, banana and softened oats blend into a dense, spoonable base without needing cooking.
- Easy to adapt: The fruit topping and sweetener can be adjusted to suit the season or your preferred level of sweetness.

Texture tips
- For a thicker bowl: Use well-chilled yoghurt and a very ripe banana, then blend just until smooth and spoonable.
- For a looser texture: Add a little extra cold water gradually before blending until it reaches your preferred consistency.
Timing notes
- Best served straight away: The bowl has its freshest flavour and best contrast when the blended base is topped just before eating.
- Short soak, no cooking: The oats only need a brief soak to soften before blending, so there is no stovetop cooking required.
Ingredient notes
- Use a ripe banana: A ripe banana gives better sweetness and a smoother blend, reducing the need for extra sweetener.
- Fresh or frozen berries: Fresh berries keep the topping bright and juicy; frozen berries work best if thawed slightly before serving.
Dietary alternatives
- Make it vegan: Use a plant-based yoghurt and replace the honey with agave syrup or another vegan sweetener.
